Top tips for achieving impact

ImpactHow do you plan, engage and evidence impact as a researcher? What steps do you need to consider at the start of your research and as it progresses?

A new ‘Top tips’ flyer, produced by Research Innovation Services (RIS) and the Impact Operations Group, is a handy reference point for researchers at all levels as we look ahead to the next REF at the start of this new academic year.

Covering the key steps in the process, from planning for impact from the early stage of research design, through to considering why, when and how to engage stakeholders, promoting your work in the media, and capturing evidence, it’s intended to put planning for impact front and centre of all our minds.

Head of Research Information & Intelligence, Katy McKen, said: “Thinking about how and why engagement matters, and how impact can be achieved and evidenced, is increasingly important for all researchers and at all stages in their careers.

“As we look ahead to the next REF cycle, I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the new impact flyer and to think about the different ways they could promote their work and to which audiences.”
