New Learning Commons opens

The Norwood House Learning Commons features an open plan study area, private study spaces, bookable individual and group work rooms and printing facilities. It fills the space previously occupied by Careers, before their move to Virgil Building.

Peter Lambert, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching), says: “We’re really pleased to add the Norwood House Learning Commons to the existing study spaces in the Library, 6WS, and the Virgil Building. Norwood House Learning Commons provides an adaptable workspace for students, and helps to address some of their concerns around space on campus.

"I encourage all staff to remind our students about the study spaces available outside of the library, especially during the upcoming exam period.”

What are Learning Commons?

We listened to student feedback and designed comfortable and informal working environments for independent and group study. Each Learning Commons has different facilities, with fixed workstations, flexible open plan areas and study rooms available for group work – as well as comfy seating and vending machines.
