Summary notes of Uni Council meeting on 18 May 2017

The following issues were discussed at the meeting of the University Council on 18 May 2017:

Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences: Professor David Galbreath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, gave a presentation on the key issues for the Faculty and its strategic aims.

The Vice-Chancellor gave a report on key issues for the University, including the new Higher Education and Research Act 2017, cyber security and recent league table results.

KPIs and Risk: Council noted an update on institutional performance along with the key performance indicators (KPIs) used and also noted the current risk register.

Students’ Union: The Students’ Union President gave an update on progress against their Top Ten issues for the year.

Finance: Council noted the half year accounts. There was a discussion about student rents.

Equality and Diversity: Council approved a revised Statement of Equality Objectives 2016-18. It also noted the Equality and Diversity Student Monitoring Data for 2015/16 including trends in applications, retention and degree achievement.
