Deans reappointed to School and Faculty

Council has approved the reappointment of Professor Veronica Hope-Hailey as Dean and Head of the School of Management and Professor Gary Hawley as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design from August 2018.

Veronica, Professor in Management Studies, is also Vice-President (Corporate Engagement) and has held posts at Cranfield School of Management, University of Cambridge and the London Business School. Throughout her career Veronica has specialised in creating long-term partnerships with corporate entities as well as governmental and non-governmental organisations.

Gary is Professor of Automotive Engineering as well as Medlock Chair of Engineering and Director of the Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre. Gary joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1995 after careers with the National Coal Board and the Royal Navy.

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, President and Vice-Chancellor, said: “In their deanships to date Veronica and Gary have been ferocious champions of the development of their faculties. They both now have the opportunity to lead even more significant changes: Veronica in the design and construction of the new School of Management building; Gary in the creation of the Institute of Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems. I wish them every success in their new terms of office."
