New Campus Masterplan project

The University is starting work on the development of a new Masterplan for its estate. This will update the current Campus Masterplan which was last reviewed in July 2014.

The development of the new Masterplan will be an iterative process informed by consultation with the University community and other key stakeholders.

The Masterplan will address the University’s needs in terms of new academic and research accommodation, support services, student accommodation, parking, sports facilities and green infrastructure.

A range of pre-requisite studies have already been undertaken to identify capacity, ecological and transport issues.

The timing of the project will align with the local authority’s development of its new Local Plan, so the Masterplan can both inform and be informed by the new Local Plan.

As a result, the aim is to have a draft Masterplan in place to inform the new Bath & North East Somerset Local Plan Preferred Options Consultation in the summer of 2018, and a final Masterplan ahead of the publication of the Submission Draft New Local Plan in the autumn of 2018.

The New Local Plan will be informed by the new Joint Spatial Plan for the West of England, both documents have a planning horizon of 2036.

Everyone on campus will be invited to input via consultation events to be held on campus in March. Details will be published shortly.
