Changes between Joblink and HR

We are writing to let you know about changes to the service that manages the administration and compliance checks for student hourly paid (casual) workers. This is a new arrangement that comes into place from Monday 5th March 2018 and follows the completion of a formal consultation process with affected staff and representative service users.

In line with recommendations from Internal Audit, responsibility for the service that takes on student hourly paid workers (including Tier 4 students) transfers on 5th March from Joblink to the Human Resources Operations Service who already manage all non-student hourly-paid workers.  This will enable a more joined-up service for all hourly-paid staff and will allow Joblink to re-focus on its core founding purpose, working with local employers and students to improve student work opportunities and employability.

In terms of taking on hourly paid student workers you will need to continue to use the hourly-paid worker system in the same way that you do now. From Monday 5th March it will be your HR Operations Administrator who will be your contact for hourly paid student workers and they will be entering students onto iTrent (including Tier 4 students so that they can be booked via the Tier 4 Booking System) and monitoring compliance.

These changes have been carefully planned but do involve significant changes for the staff in Joblink and the HR Operations team, so we do ask for your patience in the initial weeks of this change. With this additional work coming into the HR Operations team, there will be some changes to the departments which individual HR Operations Administrators cover from 5th March; details will be confirmed at HR contact us.

If you have any questions about these changes please contact Lorna Goonery, Deputy HR Manager (HR Operations) on ext 3523, Becky Gallagher, Student Development Manager in The SU, on ext 3809 or either of us Peter Eley, Deputy Director of HR (HR Services) on ext 3220 or Andrew McLaughlin, Chief Executive of The SU on ext 3071.
