Power outage yesterday

All those who were on campus yesterday lunchtime will know that we had a cross-campus power outage for just over an hour at 12 noon. We are still investigating the circumstances that caused the power cut.

Although this is a very rare occurrence, we will be reviewing our systems and processes to see what we can learn for the future in terms of looking after our community and keeping the University operating smoothly.

I appreciate that this caused substantial inconvenience to some students and staff. We issued updates via our social media platforms, but our ability to communicate on our University systems was constrained by the power outage affecting IT and phones.

I’d like to thank all our staff and students for their patience and those staff members who helped to resolve the issue speedily.
