Message from Professor Bernie Morley

Dear colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all who played a part in making our Open Days on Friday and Saturday a huge success.

Open Days are a unique opportunity to showcase our University and we welcomed thousands of visitors over the two days. There is very clear evidence suggesting what our visitors (and those who influence them, parents, teachers) see and experience at an Open Day has a major impact on where they prefer to study.

I am sure you will agree, the atmosphere on campus was lively and engaging and I heard a lot of positive comments from prospective students and their families.

I am always very impressed by the sheer effort of so many people working to ensure the event goes smoothly. The preparation starts a long time in advance to ensure campus looks its best and our visitors get the right first impression. So whether you were giving a talk, setting up in the early hours, leading a tour, staffing a stand in the Information Fair, serving food and drink, welcoming visitors to campus or clearing up afterwards, I think we can all be proud of the way we represented our University. It really is a team effort and your help and support is appreciated.

If you have any feedback about the Open Day please e-mail the events team.

Many thanks,

Professor Bernie Morley

Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost
