Important travel update for Bristol area this autumn

Network Rail will be working on the lines around Bristol Parkway in preparation for electrification from Saturday 15 September to Saturday 6 October. This means no trains will call at Bristol Parkway station for three weeks. Great Western Railway services between London Paddington and South Wales will call at Patchway instead of Bristol Parkway, as will CrossCountry trains, with replacement coaches running to Patchway, Yate and Filton Abbey Wood. Upgrade work will also mean the line between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, and the Severn Beach line will be closed with replacement coaches running between stations affected from Saturday 27 October to Sunday 18 November. This will allow Network Rail to install additional tracks between Lawrence Hill and Filton Abbey Wood doubling the number of lines, which will reduce congestion, bringing both reliability and capacity improvements.
