Two minute silence for earthquake victims

The earthquake that struck close to Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Saturday morning has caused widespread devastation in Kashmir and Pakistan. At least 20,000 people are thought to have been killed.

The University Chaplain, Angela Berners-Wilson, will lead a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the earthquake tomorrow. Staff and students of all faiths, and none, are welcome to attend.

The two-minute silence will take place on Tuesday 11 October at 12.10pm on the Parade - near the Library - and will be followed by a short prayer.

Anyone who wishes is also invited to attend the 12.15 Eucharist service in the Chaplaincy afterwards.

The Chaplaincy Team and the Counselling Service are very happy to talk/offer support to any students or members of staff who may have been affected by the disaster. Please call into the Chaplaincy Centre, which is situated down the steps between the Library and the Students' Union, or make an appointment with the University counsellors on ext 4796.
