Official presentation for Oakfield graduates

Graduates of the Swindon teacher training course attended a formal presentation this week to receive their PGCE certificate, validated by the University.

The School Centred Initial Teacher Training scheme (SCITT), now in its third year, has had huge success in addressing the shortage of teachers in Swindon’s secondary schools, with 26 graduates achieving full-time teaching positions in the area.

Hilary Pitts, Director of Children’s Services for Swindon Authority, presented the certificates. Bryn Harrison, SCITT manager, said: “The presentation gave us the opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of last year’s trainees. The success of the scheme is a reflection of the hard work of both the students and the staff.”
