Internal News - 08 December 2005

New Head of Security Services

Brian Schofield has recently taken up the post of Head of Security Services following the retirement, earlier in the year, of Adrian Hicks.

Prior to taking on the role Brian had been employed as a security consultant and trainer, spent three years in retail security as a regional security manager for Sainsbury's and completed over 30 years service in the Avon and Somerset Constabulary. He is well versed with the problems in and around Bath having spent some nine years in the city earlier in his career. One of his roles whilst serving in the Constabulary was to organise the police resources for the European Youth Olympics hosted by the University of Bath and other venues around the city.

Brian will continue with a limited consultancy role where he specialises in security at major events. He will remain the head of security for the Glastonbury Festival, a position that he has carried out over the last four years. (And before you ask he has already stated he can not get anyone free tickets!).

In his new role at the University, Brian will continue to encourage the members of the Security Service to give a high level of customer care in both their security duties and other roles and services throughout the campus and University residencies. In addition he will provide strategic security advice, leadership and direction to the University and the Security Service.
