Press Release - 12 April 2005

Free support for Bath businesses

Businesses in the Bath area will have free access to expert advice and guidance thanks to the start of a new series of free seminars at the University of Bath this week.

The Entrepreneurs South West seminars will cover a range of topics including marketing, human resources, recruitment and IT, and have been specially developed for small and medium sized businesses.

The first breakfast session in the series, on ‘Planning your Marketing’, will be held between 7.00am and 10.00am on Friday 15 April 2005 at Carpenter House on Broad Quay.

Speakers at the seminar will include Warren Cass of Inspire Success Ltd and Networking Live who has grown his business from a standing start to approaching a £3m turnover some 15 months later.

Also giving a presentation at the seminar will be Quentin Dunstan who has worked as a trainer, consultant and facilitator with many major companies, is a Chartered Marketer and has been Managing Director of two manufacturing firms.

The series of seminars is co-sponsored by the European Social Fund in order to promote employment opportunities in the region. The seminars will be completely free of charge to owners and managers of small and medium sized businesses in any sector.

All of the breakfast and evening seminars being planned will take place either at the University’s city-centre base Carpenter House or on the Claverton Down Campus.

Sessions are lively and informal and participants can also enjoy a free breakfast and refreshments or buffet supper depending on the time of day.

“The Entrepreneurs South West series has been running very successfully for several months at the University’s Oakfield Campus in Swindon and has been very well received by the business community there,” said Marc Braddock, Assistant Director for Business Skills at the University.

"We are delighted to be in the position to now offer a similar opportunity for businesses in the Bath area. We have an exciting programme of topical events in store over the coming months to help local managers to develop their skills and expertise.”
