Historian David Starkey to lecture at University

Gerald Walters Memorial Lecture:
The Coronation of Edgar at Bath in 973: English history and English values

A constitutional historian and broadcaster, and Fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, Dr David Starkey is a winner of the WH Smith Prize for Biography (for Elizabeth) and the Norton Medlicott Medal for Service to History, presented by the Historical Association. David Starkey has breathed new life into popular history and is the acknowledged expert on the Tudors.

This prestigious lecture series is named after Dr Gerald Walters, the first Reader in the Humanities at the University, who distinguished himself as both a scholar and politician. The Gerald Walters Memorial Lecture became the first public lecture series to be established following the granting of the University's charter.
