What is yoga? For beginners Yoga can simply be a form of exercise to tone and strengthen the body. The physical exercises are in the form of simple postures (known as asanas) that bring alignment, poise and strength - which in turn prepare the body for further refinements, such as breathing exercises (pranyama).

What is Iyengar Yoga? Iyengar Yoga is a system that is methodical and progressive, emphasising correct alignment of the body and absolute safety. It is not soft music, lying down yoga and will generally be hard work.

What are the benefits? Many top athletes from Premiership football, as well as Bath Rugby club have benefited from injury prevention and increased strength through Iyengar Yoga. However, yoga can also address many symptoms of stress, such as headaches, stiff necks, lower backache, insomnia and digestive disorders and improve concentration and self-discipline.

What level are the classes? The classes will be suitable for those new to yoga or new to Iyengar yoga, up to a few years Iyengar yoga practice.
