Press Release - 01 June 2005

Learning to lead the way

Local entrepreneurs are invited to a free all-day training event on leadership and management, hosted by the University of Bath. The event is to be held at Carpenter House, near the main rail station, from 9.30am-4.30pm on Friday 17 June.

The day, entitled “Ownership & engagement – how to create a sustained performance improvement”, will comprise two workshops run by expert training consultants.

Peter Hunter, Director of Hunter Business Consultancies, will run the Engagement Workshop. This session will look at ways to ensure managers are getting the very best out of their team. Peter will introduce his performance improvement process, ‘Breaking the Mould™’, which shows the way to empower and enable a workforce through creating a sense of ownership within the team.

In addition the delegates will have the opportunity to attend the Ownership Workshop run by experienced corporate trainer Elaine Oakes of Nov8, the business change consultants. Through a range of activities Elaine will help delegates to identify ways in which they can increase the performance of their team by encouraging involvement in the decision-making process.

The training event is delivered as part of the Entrepreneurs South West initiative from the University of Bath. It is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of local entrepreneurs and increase business performance. The project is partly funded by the European Social Fund.
