Summer awards ceremonies – vox pop

The summer graduation ceremonies began today at Bath Abbey. They run from 19-21 July.

Sariya Mangkarnkanokpongs received her BSc in Business Administration. She said, “The service was really enjoyable and ran very smoothly. My mum has come over from Thailand to see me graduate so it’s a very special day. In September I am going to London to start a Masters in Information Systems.”

“It’s absolutely brilliant to be in the Abbey,” said David Caswell who graduated with a BSc in Business Administration. “It wraps up my time in Bath nicely.” In September David will join the Marks & Spencer graduate training programme in London.

Louise Keane graduated with an MSc in Responsibility & Business Practice. She said, “The ceremony was beautiful - a real spectacle. It is very special to be in Bath again as I have been travelling down from Edinburgh once every three months to attend the course. After this I’ll be continuing my work in Communications.”

Joseph Desouza, another BSc Business Administration graduate, said he had really enjoyed the course and felt the work placements had equipped him well for his new consultancy job in London.

Also graduating with a BSc in Business Administration, Sarah Barnard said, “I’ve had a great time at Bath and made loads of friends here. After this I’m hoping to work back up near home in the Midlands.”

Leen Van Doorn received his MSc in Responsibility & Business Practice. “It’s been great to mark the occasion with such a special ceremony. It’s an important part of the whole education process, especially courses with lots of international students. It gives us the opportunity to have a final get together.”

Alex Corman travelled down from Nottingham to graduate with a BSc in Business Administration. He said, “The service was really good – there was a good build up and it was just the right length. The course has been a great balance of practical and theoretical skills.”

On her way to graduate with a BA in Coach Education & Sports Development, Bianca Modeste said, “I’m really excited about the ceremony. It’s the end of an amazing course – I’ve gained really valuable experience working with the community though my netball coaching. I’m off to do a PGCE in Cardiff next term.”
