European Silver medal for men's quadruple scull

University of Bath students, Adam Freeman-Pask, Paddy Hogben, Harry Bond and Tom Dowson won a silver medal in the mens quadruple scull at the inaugural European Universities Rowing Championship held in Cardiff Bay over the weekend of 23/24 July 2005.

In a competition that attracted athletes from 12 different countries and representing over 30 UK and European Universities, the Bath University Boat Club athletes beat off a close challenge form Lyon University to take silver in a time of 4mins 45.6 secs.

The standard at the event was higher that expected with the German team fielding a number of experienced internationals including a athlete from their women's Olympic 8+.

Adam, Harry, Tom and Paddy had all won medals at the BUSA Regatta in May and were selected to compete and represent the British University Rowing Team.

Matt Rayner, the new SU Vice-President for Sport said that the Rowing Club had made great progress in the last year both on and off the water and this success was a good reward for their hard work and training.

The VP Sport also said that the Sports Association had been working hard to find the rowing club better water to train on and are currently looking to build a temporary boathouse in Bath which will help all current student rowing members.
