Bath closes on arch rivals Loughborough

Tamara Johnson and Matt Rayner, the new VP Sport recently attended the BUSA Annual Awards Dinner where Tam, outgoing VP Sport accepted the overall second place trophy for the third year running.

With the the 2004/2005 BUSA season now over, the University of Bath has again made inroads into Loughborough's dominance of student sport. With ladies netball and football winning their respective championships and further successes in Fencing, Judo, Tennis, Lacrosse, Canoeing and Mountain Biking, the University of Bath has managed to reduce their lead by a further 108 points.

Matt Rayner, newly elected VP Sport said "Our women have had an excellent season in a wide range of sports and it is now up to the men to match them. It is also good to see our individual and tournament sports continuing their successes and adding to our BUSA tally"

Jo Garwood 1st team Netball and Club Chair 2005/06 reflected on their year saying "It has been an amazing season for everybody, especially given that both the 1sts and 2nds won BUSA this year. I am looking forward to next year and hoping to continue our success, I would just like to say thanks to all the coaches, my fellow players in the club and finally to Tam and Sports Association for all their help this year."

Matt Rayner said "The results should give all teams and athletes the confidence for the forthcoming season but was quick to remind students that sport at Bath is not just about BUSA competitions and that 2005/06 would see a new and improved intra-mural programme being put forward through as a joint effort between the Sports Association and Sports Department"
