No access to/from campus from The Avenue

The University has been advised by Bath and North East Somerset Council that consultation is again underway about proposals to restrict traffic turning from the campus into the Avenue and vice versa.

The Avenue is the road leading to the Bath Cats and Dogs Home and the American Museum.

Interested parties are urged to express their views (following the instructions in the letter below) by 17 February 2006, even if they have written to BANES on previous occasions. Please copy your emails to so that the Director of Estates can take staff feeling into consideration when compiling the institutional response.

The Avenue and Convocation Avenue, Bath - prohibition of right turn, prohibition of left turn - Order 200

NOTICE is hereby given that the Bath and North East Somerset Council proposes to make an order under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, the effect of which will prohibit turning left into The Avenue from Convocation Avenue and turning right into Convocation Avenue from The Avenue, Bath.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the draft order, which together with a map and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the order may be inspected at Trimbridge House, Trim Street, Bath and at our offices below during normal office hours.

Objections and representations with respect to the proposal, together with the grounds on which they are made must be sent in writing to the Traffic and Safety Team or by email to quoting the title of the scheme: (The Avenue and Convocation Avenue, Bath) (Prohibition of Right Turn) (Prohibition of Left Turn) Order 200-; and the reference PEV600/PB at the address below by 17th February 2006.
