Bloomin’ marvellous prize for University of Bath

The University of Bath has received first prize in the annual Bath in Bloom competition for the new landscaping and planting outside its Sports Training Village and new student residences.

The prize was awarded in the Environmental Projects section for the quality of maintenance, design, selection of plant material, overall impact of the project and overall horticultural expertise.

Peter Brown, Landscape Manager in the Department of Estates, is delighted with the Bath in Bloom 2005 award: “We are all really pleased with the recognition for the hard work that has gone into developing the sites around campus.”

“We are also looking forward to future projects on campus and hope we can be as successful in the future.”

This is the third time that the University’s Landscape Section have won first prize, winning previously in 2002 and 2003

In 2004 they also received an award for the cricket facilities at the nearby Sulis Club.

Fifteen people work in the Landscape Section at the University and as well as the landscaped areas around campus, new projects and special events floral decorations, they also look after the sports pitches on site and at the Sulis Club.
