In-sessional English programme Semester 1 2006/07

If you need help with your English or help with academic study skills, the English Language Centre offers a range of English units to support home students and international students in their studies and to improve their English.

For students whose mother tongue is English, or who are fluent users of English, we run ‘Effective writing for native speakers of English’, which is designed to provide English writing support. It will help you to develop your general academic writing skills, particularly essay writing, by learning about structuring essays, synthesising information from other sources, academic style, grammatical accuracy, punctuation etc.

For international students and any students whose mother tongue is not English, we run a variety of units to help with English language and academic study skills, including assignment writing and spoken English courses.

We also run more general English classes, including Business English and classes preparing for the Cambridge English exams (First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced and Proficiency).

For visiting and exchange students we provide History and Literature units.

For more information on all these units, and how to apply for them, see Related Links
