Last minute places for part-time courses in Bath

From aspiring authors to wannabe Diarmuid Gavins or Oz Clarkes, people in Bath have the chance this week to snap up last minute places on the University of Bath’s autumn programme of part-time courses.

Term starts on 9 October and runs to 14 December, with evening and day courses held at the University’s Claverton campus and its city-centre location at Carpenter House.

The last remaining spaces on the extensive programme include courses in art & design, writing, business, horticulture and food & drink.

Would-be writers can get started with Write Now, an informal but informative introduction to creative writing that will enable them to try out poetry, fiction and life-writing techniques in a friendly and supportive environment.

An introduction to Garden Design covers the skills students need to update or design their garden, including design principles, soil science and plants for places and planting design.

Wine lovers can become more adventurous and knowledgeable in their selection in Choosing wine with confidence. Through themed sessions and tutored tasting students will be able to compare and appreciate styles, tastes and values from wines across the world.

In art & design, students can combine imagination, colour and basic sewing skills in Creative textiles, taking inspiration from contemporary textile artists and the heritage of many different cultures.

For full details of the programme see Related Links section. For help and advice with online enrolment, students can also visit the Lifelong Learning office at Carpenter House in Bath during office hours.

The Lifelong Learning Programme is now in its twelfth year and has provided thousands of students of all ages from Bath and the surrounding area with an impressive range of learning opportunities.
