More than 500 students attend first ever Arts Afternoon

More than 500 students attended the first Arts Afternoon on campus, a joint initiative between ICIA and the Students' Union Art Societies, on Saturday 30 September.

The aim of the afternoon was to give freshers an idea of the extent of the arts activities on campus by offering taster sessions as well as a chance to view open rehearsals by societies preparing for performances this semester.

More than eight venues were used across campus, and students could choose from, amongst others, a gospel vocal workshop, ceramics and art workshops, a performance session, salsa, backstage technical activities, dance, and orchestra and chamber open sessions.

Emma Gray, ICIA Arts Assistant & Student Liaison says: “The afternoon was a great success; for many students the chance to participate in the arts is very important, and they really enjoyed having a go. It gave them an opportunity to meet new people and get a good idea of what’s on offer before they sign up.”
