World without wires: opportunities in personal wireless technology

Entrepreneurs, investors and researchers will be coming together to discuss opportunities for start-up businesses in the wireless technology sector at the latest Silicon Southwest event taking place in Swindon next week (24 November 2006).

The phenomenal success of Bluetooth and WiFi-enabled products has demonstrated the huge appetite for connecting headsets, hands-free kits, PCs and mobile phones wirelessly.

With ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’ crossing the technology divide between computers and phones, and transforming the telecommunication landscape, the demand for wireless connectivity is huge.

The event, organised by the SETsquared partnership and the National Microelectronics Institute, will discuss the applications, and systems, which will best meet these needs.

It will also address what new capabilities will be needed and the opportunities where a technology start-up can make its mark.
