Help with podcasting is available

University departments wanting to use the technology of podcasting - delivering regular audio content to subscribers over the internet - can get help from the Department of Marketing & Communications.

The Department has already made available some public lectures through the University's Public Lecture Podcast, and lectures have been downloaded 50,000 times since April this year.

The Department can now encode the audio files for podcasting and give advice on listing podcasts in directories such as iTunes and Odeo. It can also assist in creating the XML file for the web feeds and advise on the style to use for the feed links. This ensures that subscribers can see and subscribe to our lectures easily.
