UK-USA partnership looks at wireless opportunities

Researchers from the South of England and Southern California will be meeting in Bath later this week to discuss opportunities in wireless communications.

The aim of the event, organised through the SETsquared Partnership, is to identify areas for potential collaboration between the institutions involved, and explore opportunities for research.

The two-day workshop, which runs from 14-15 December, will look in particular at wireless sensor networks, wireless networking vision & next generation internet and challenges for cognitive radio.

The SETsquared Partnership is the collaboration of the universities of Bath, Bristol, Southampton and Surrey, generating successful enterprise and entrepreneurship in southern England.

In December 2005, the SETsquared Partnership won a £1.5 million award from the Department of Trade and Industry to build a ‘science bridge’ with the University of California San Diego and the University of California Irvine to encourage joint research projects and the sharing of resources.

Earlier this year, Bath hosted a similar event as part of the science bridges award on stem cells and bioengineering.
