University of Bath offers £3,000 scholarships to the best international students

One of the UK’s leading universities has launched a new £200,000 scholarship scheme to attract the most able international students to study there.

The University of Bath International Scholarship programme is open to all students from outside the European Union applying for full-time undergraduate or masters courses starting in September 2006.

50 undergraduate student scholarships (each worth £3,000) and 25 masters scholarships (each worth £2,000) will be awarded on the basis of academic merit using information provided in the student’s UCAS application or application for postgraduate study.

“The University of Bath already has over 100 nationalities represented among our student community, and one in four of students following our degree programmes comes from outside the UK,” said Professor Jane Millar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Development at the University of Bath.

“We are committed to rewarding excellence and encouraging highly talented students from countries around the world to come and study with us.

“We are therefore making significant new investment in our scholarship provision for international students.

“The University of Bath already offers scholarships to postgraduate research students, and this new provision means we will have funding opportunities for international students in all departments and at all levels of study.”

The University of Bath is consistently ranked as one of the UK’s top dozen universities, and in 2005 was short-listed for the Sunday Times University of the Year award.

The University is renowned for its academic and research excellence, and boasts excellent facilities for students, including a £23 million Sports Training Village.

Based in the historic city of Bath, a designated UN World Heritage Site, the University is a popular destination for international students with more than 2,000 students from overseas.
