Do you use web forms?

Staff and students often ask BUCS and the Web Team to put forms on their web pages so that they can gather information.

There have been so many requests recently that a more cost-effective approach would be to buy in software that will allow staff and students to create these forms themselves.

Before this can be done, BUCS and the Web Team need to know how much this software would be used and in what ways. So we are asking for staff and students with a need to use web forms to send us details.

Some of the main features of the software we have been investigating are:

• forms that can be created on screen that will look the same on the web page (WYSIWYG) and that can use the drag and drop method
• ability to control input of finished form (eg via mandatory fields)
• ability to export data to Excel or databases
• forms that will print a paper version of all submissions
• ability to include pre-defined sub-forms in your own design
• the ability to save form and resume form filling at a later date
• response/confirmation page generated once form has been submitted
• output can be emailed to RT queue for tracking purposes.

If you think you would be able to make use of this type of facility or require more information please contact sw-response by Friday 24 March.
