A statement on industrial action from 8 March onwards

The University's senior management has issued the following statement:

Members of the academic union AUT are continuing to engage in industrial action short of a strike from tomorrow onwards.

The University strongly supports efforts currently being made nationally to seek an end to the dispute but is very aware of the possible effects of the present action on student examination and assessment. Guidance will continue to be issued to departments to minimise the impact on students.

We will do all we can to assist final year students to graduate and other students to progress in their studies as normal. The aim will be that students are not materially disadvantaged because of the industrial action.

The impact of the AUT action on students will be considered on an individual or group basis in the examination and assessment process under the provisions for mitigating circumstances.
