Internal News - 04 April 2006

Launch of the Swindon Businesswomen’s Breakfast Club Make it Happen Award

Local women are invited to enter the competition for the tenth Swindon Businesswomen’s Breakfast Club Make it Happen Award.

This award is open to all women who live or work in the Swindon area and who wish to develop their career potential. The prize includes up to £500 for training, plus professional career advice, personal support from a mentor and free club membership for a year.

Successful applicants have shown clear objectives regarding their career path. Last year’s main award went to Mandy Dandy whose ambition is to train as special needs teacher. Mandy is using her award to help fund an Educational Foundation degree course. Other winners include Claire Tubb (who completed the Women in Enterprise course at the University of Bath in Swindon last year) who was awarded financial support to complete a garden design course to complement her garden maintenance business.

The Swindon Businesswomen’s Breakfast Club, which consists of members from across the commercial spectrum, meets at the Goddard Arms in Swindon on the last Thursday of each month. Members have the opportunity to network, exchange views and listen to speakers on a wide range of topics, both business and community related.

The closing date for applications is 26 May 2006. Anyone wishing further information on how to apply should contact Maureen Inwards on 01793 492471 or e-mail maureen.inwards@intergraph.com.
