Funding available for enterprise sabbaticals

Academic members of staff now have the opportunity to apply for an enterprise sabbatical which will enable them to free up their teaching and administration commitments so they can work on entrepreneurial ideas and activities.

The scheme, developed by Research & Innovation Services, provides funding of up to £8,000 to cover teaching and administrative commitments over the 2006/7 academic year.

Kevin Edge, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research said: "This is a valuable initiative which should enable academic staff to balance the demands on their time with opportunities for commercialisation. It has my full support."

Academics interested in applying for an enterprise sabbatical need to prepare a short bid document by Thursday 8 June 2006. The bids will be assessed with funding available for the next academic year.
