How do we rate? Results of The Times University Guide, 2007

This week, The Times Newspaper published its national university league table, 2007. The University appears 19 times in the UK top ten course league table.

The league table ranks the UK's top twenty universities. The overall ranking measures nine key aspects of activity, combining results for research quality, entry standards and the proportion of graduates in ‘graduate’ jobs or further study. This is followed by a ranking of the top twenty institutions by course.

Overall, the University is ranked as the ninth best university in the UK, rising from 13th place in last year’s table. This year shows improvement in five subjects, with Chemical Engineering and Italian making the biggest jump up the table. Four subjects maintained their positions, with Mechanical Engineering and Social Work excelling in second place.
