What do you exercise for? Staff survey for research project

Simon Sebire, a PhD student from Sport and Exercise Science in the School for Health, is looking for members of staff to complete a 15 minute online survey as part of his research project.

He is aiming to build up a clearer understanding of adult motivation and goals for carrying out sport, exercise and day-to-day activity.

The questionnaire developed as a result of this phase of the project will help inform how best to motivate individuals to get active, exercise and thus reap the rewards of an active lifestyle.

The questionnaire could be particularly useful for large employers interested in learning how to help their employees get more active.

“The survey is online and takes about 15-20 minutes to fill out,” said Simon.

“Participants will be asked a few questions about themselves and then about their reasons for exercising.”

Those wishing to take part can visit the project website in the related links section.

Over the next few weeks, Simon hopes to receive feedback from around 600 people throughout the University.
