Open evenings to launch new part-time courses at the University of Bath in Swindon

People in Swindon are invited to two open evenings to find out more about the University of Bath in Swindon’s new autumn programme of part-time day and evening courses.

The open evenings run from 6pm-9pm at the Oakfield campus on Tuesday 12 September and Wednesday 27 September.

They give people the chance to talk to staff about the broad and varied programme and get help and advice on selecting a course. People can enrol on the spot to ensure they don’t miss out on a place.

The autumn term offers a wide ranging programme of educational and leisure courses, beginning on the 9 October. Enrolment closes at the end of September.

A new online enrolment facility has been launched this year to give people a quick and easy route to enrolment. See the related links in the top left hand corner for details. Computer facilities will be available at the open evening for enrolment and help will be on hand if needed.

Courses range from archaeology to art and design, to horticulture to philosophy. In IT, budding computer buffs can learn about Web design for beginners, for the mind and body students can enjoy Yoga for beginners and improvers, or get creative and Write that novel!

For people who can’t commit to an evening every week, or would like to get a flavour for the subject first, there are a number of day and weekend schools running this term. The courses include Learn to use your new digital camera, Have fun with drumming and Trace your family history on the net.

“The open evenings are a way for people to come along and chat to the staff about the courses and what they cover, so that they have all the information they need to pick a course that’s right for them,” said Caroline Gardiner, Lifelong Learning Manager at the University.

“For people thinking about a course in Art & Design or IT it’s also a good opportunity to visit the excellent facilities that Oakfield has to offer.”

For more information about the courses on offer this autumn, and to enrol, see the related links in the top left hand corner.

The Lifelong Learning Programme is now in its sixth year.
