Felicity Wikeley is new Chair of Academic Assembly

Dr Felicity Wikeley has been elected as Chair of Academic Assembly until 31 July 2009.

Academic Assembly meets twice per year; the dates for this academic year are: 17 October 2006 and 8 May 2007.

It is the formal body representing the interests of academic members of the University. These include members of academic staff (over 0.33 FTE), the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, the University Librarian and holders of such other posts in the University and such other members of the University as may be designated by the Senate.

The Chair of Academic Assembly is an ex officio member of Court, Council, Senate and Nominations Committee.

Felicity Wikeley has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education since 2000 and also worked at the University as a Research Fellow from 1994-1997.

She has been Director of Studies for Research, served on the Humanities & Social Sciences Faculty Board of Studies and was elected by Academic Assembly to Senate in 2004. She was also a Council member of the British Educational Research Association for six years.

She says: "Whilst my experience has been within a social science department, my membership of Senate and position as chair of the Equalities & Diversity Network has enabled me to also become familiar with the issues concerning the science and engineering departments.

"My experience and understanding of a range of academic roles will help me work to make sure that all voices of the academic community are heard."
