RICE seeking runners for Bath half marathon

The Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly (RICE) is recruiting runners for the 2007 Bath half marathon.

The event takes place in March each year and those who take part support many local charities.

RICE, which is linked to the University’s School for Health, relies on this income to support its important work with older people.

The Institute has been awarded 10 private charity places for next year.

The 2006 event raised over £2,500 for RICE, and organisers hope to break the £3,000 in 2007.

Tricia Mugridge, RICE fundraiser, said: “We welcome enquiries from any local runners or teams and hope that each member of our team will be able to raise at least £200 for us.

“The average raised per runner this year was over £300 and we hope to increase this in 2007.

“It is vital that we continue our important work and events such as the Bath half marathon really do make a difference to RICE.”

The event takes place on Sunday 25 March 2007 starting in Great Pulteney Street and the course takes in the city on both sides of the river Avon.
