Press Release - 06 September 2006

Open day to launch new part-time courses at the University of Bath

People in Bath are invited to call in to an open day at Carpenter House in the city centre on Saturday 9 September, to find out more about the University of Bath’s new autumn programme of part-time day and evening courses.

The open day runs from 10am-2pm and gives people the chance to talk to staff about the broad and varied programme and get help and advice on selecting a course. People can enrol on the spot to ensure they don’t miss out on a place.

The autumn programme, which includes a wide range of educational and leisure courses, is held at the University’s Claverton campus and at Carpenter House in the city centre. Term begins on the 9 October and enrolment closes at the end of September.

A new online enrolment facility has been launched this year to give people a quick and easy route to enrolment. See related links in the top left hand corner for more information. Computer facilities will be available at the open day for enrolment and help will be on hand if needed.

Courses range from art history to counselling, and food and drink to horticulture. In business studies, find out about Marketing and Managing communication in your organisation, in health and fitness enjoy Yoga for health, or in music enjoy Guitar playing for beginners.

For people who can’t commit to an evening every week, or would like to get a flavour for the subject first, there are a number of day schools running this term. The courses include an Introduction to aromatherapy, Buying on eBay, and Have fun with drumming.

“The open day is a way for people to come along and chat to the staff about the courses and what they cover, so that they have all the information they need to pick a course that’s right for them,” said Caroline Gardiner, Lifelong Learning Manager at the University. “For people thinking about a course in Art & Design or IT it’s also a good opportunity to visit the excellent facilities that Carpenter House has to offer.”

For more information about the courses on offer this autumn, and to enrol, see related links in the top left hand corner.

The Lifelong Learning Programme is now in its twelfth year of operation.
