Swindon Innovation Centre hosts conference

Local councils will get the chance to hear how they can help businesses to start up and flourish, so encouraging regeneration and economic development.

A conference on Tuesday 30 January, run by UK Business Incubation and hosted by the University of Bath in Swindon’s Innovation Centre, will bring together regeneration professionals, business incubation managers, regional development agencies and business support agencies.

Conference topics include: fulfilling regional economic strategies, creating the right environment for businesses by using either new or existing premises, and the common principles of rural and urban business incubation.

Phil Merrick, Manager of the University’s Innovation Centre, said: “Business incubators are a proven way of improving the success rate for new start-ups. They provide an ideal environment to help businesses innovate, grow and flourish and they can make a significant contribution to a local economy.”

UK Business Incubation is an organisation that develops and supports incubation environments, enabling practitioners to share know-how and good practice.

The University of Bath in Swindon offers a range of training and support opportunities for new and established businesses in the Swindon area and beyond. Currently, business support includes entrepreneurs initiatives, office space, a range of training schemes, and opportunities to network with the local business community.
