Fundraising students are 'a credit to their University'

University of Bath students have been praised for raising thousands of pounds to help fund research into cancer.

Cancer Research UK has thanked Bath students for the £4,575 they raised at RAG events including a street collection in Edinburgh over the New Year.

Richard Cowie, a fundraiser for the charity said: “Professor David Harrison, Director Edinburgh Cancer Research UK, has asked me to pass on his thanks and to congratulate your students on this marvellous achievement.

“They are a credit to their University.”

Mr Cowie said that, as one in three people will get cancer, his charity’s research, funded almost entirely by the public, was vital.

Bath Rag is a student run group based at the University of Bath who raise money through various events run throughout the year and then donate the money to both local and national charities.

With a core committee of 11 people supported by a large group of volunteers, last year Bath Rag raised over £50,000 for charitable organisations.
