Networking event for women in business

Women in Swindon are invited to hear about what lies behind entrepreneurial success, in a free women’s networking event at the University of Bath in Swindon (Tuesday 23 January).

Margaret Heffernan, entrepreneur, chief executive and author, will talk about what motivates successful entrepreneurs and where they find the strengths that help them build their business.

The event is organised by the University’s Business Hub which runs a range of programmes and seminars to support local businesses, including a Women into Enterprise programme giving women training, support and networking opportunities to set up their own business.

The event will run from 10.30am-1pm in the main hall at the Oakfield campus and includes a light buffet lunch. It is open to all business women in Swindon, women attending Business Hub courses, and women with an interest in the subject. There will be an opportunity for networking.

Ms Heffernan is a prominent supporter of women in business. She began her career as a radio and television producer at the BBC and then ran a trade association representing the rights of independent film and television producers. In 1994 she moved to the United States, working on public affairs campaigns and becoming Chief Executive of two American corporations. She sits on the board of several private companies and public institutions in the United States and UK.

She will sign copies of her new book entitled ‘How she does it: How women entrepreneurs are changing the rules of business success.

Information will be available on the day for women who are interested in finding out about the Women into Enterprise course.
