The death of Sylvia Richardson is announced

The death has been announced of Miss Sylvia Richardson, who worked in the University Registry from 1965 until her retirement in 1988, for most of that time as Examinations Officer.

Sylvia Richardson was a graduate of the University of Bristol, where she read Economics and French, before joining the John Lewis Partnership. She subsequently worked as Secretary to the Mayor and Town Clerk of Reigate, and at Hillcroft College, Surbiton (the Working Women's College) before joining the University.

She was active as a walker and skier and Captain of the Women's Boatclub whilst at Bristol, for which she received a half-blue.

The funeral will take place in the University Chaplaincy on Wednesday 17 October, at 3pm; all those who knew Sylvia are most welcome to attend.
