Press Release - 04 October 2007

Families invited to get drawing

Families are invited to a fun-filled day of drawing at the University of Bath in Swindon on Saturday 13 October from 10am to 4pm.

The free event at the Oakfield campus is open to people of all ages and promises to show that absolutely anyone can draw.

It celebrates The Big Draw, a national event designed to get everyone drawing, organised by The Campaign for Drawing.

People will be able to work with crayons, pastels, charcoal and paint to create artwork they can take home, and contribute to a large collaborative piece that will be created throughout the day.

A toddler’s corner will give little ones the chance to play with colours.

Swindon art group ‘G5 artists’ will join artists Pauline Pratt and Alys Hawkins to lead the event, entitled ‘Me, Myself and I: How do you see yourself and others?’

Individual artwork will be photographed on the day to be compiled at a later date into a film to be shown in the University foyer.

People are invited to turn up on the day and stay for anything from half an hour up to two hours. Parking at the campus in Marlowe Avenue is free and light refreshments will be available.

Over 350,000 people are expected to take part in The Big Draw at 1,000 venues throughout Britain, from large institutions to village halls.

The eighth annual event is designed to give people the chance to discover that drawing is enjoyable, liberating and at everyone's fingertips.
