Malaysian Sports Minister visits University

The Minister of Sport for Malaysia today toured the Sports Training Village at the University to learn more about its training and research facilities.

Dato’ Seri Azalina Dato’ Othman Said was joined by the Director General of the National Sports Council of Malaysia, Dato’ Dr Ramlan Abd Aziz, and sports science consultant Professor Rabindarjeet Singh.

The party saw performance athletes, students and members of the public training at the venue in a range of sports, including tennis, swimming, judo and modern pentathlon.

They watched a group of volley ball players benefiting from a hydrotherapy recovery session and were introduced to the services provided by the Sports Injury Clinic & Human Performance Centre.

Ged Roddy, Director of Sport, and Ron Humphreys, Special Projects Manager, took the party round the facilities, before joining the Vice-Chancellor Professor Glynis Breakwell and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor George Lunt.

Discussions continued over lunch, joined by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Millar and Virginia Irwin, Deputy Head of the International Office.
