'Find as you type' facility on Person Finder
'Find as you type' facility on Person Finder

Internal News - 27 November 2007

New look Person Finder is launched

A message from Web Services:

A joint initiative between Web Services and BUCS delivers a number of changes to the Person Finder service today.

The most obvious change is the provision of a 'find as you type' search facility. As you type the name or username of a person all results that match are displayed. Selecting a name returns their full details.

The more familiar Person Finder screen can be found under the 'Advanced Search' link. Person Finder will remember which of the two screens you last used.

The information contained in person finder is now more consistent due to changes in the structure of data. New hardware also means faster searching and improved resilience.

A new search plugin can also be installed in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox. This allows you to search for people by entering a full name or surname in the browser search box.
