Diwali celebrations on campus

Celebrations to mark the Hindu festival of Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, will take place at the University on Thursday 8 November at 7.30pm (lecture hall 4E 3.10).

The colourful Hindu ceremony will include prayers, talks, singing and music, and will finish with a special Fire Plate ceremony.

“The festival is a reminder that good always wins over evil,” said Jiten Patel, one of the event organisers and a student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

“This is the fourth year that Bath has celebrated the Indian New Year and every year we seem to attract more and more attention. This year students will also join us from the University of Bristol.”

Everyone is welcome on the night and the ceremony will last for a maximum of an hour.
