Media training for researchers

The University will be running two media training days for researchers in the New Year. The courses will be held on Tuesday 22 January (for research officers and PhD students) and Wednesday 30 January (for more experienced researchers).

The courses are free and are particularly useful for researchers likely to be dealing with the media in the coming months or years.

The tutors on the courses include Dr Jon Copley, former news editor at New Scientist, and Wendy Barnaby, a former broadcaster in the BBC Science Unit and now editor of Science & Public Affairs (the magazine of the British Association for the Advancement of Science).

The days are intensive, hands-on and fun - and give researchers the rare opportunity to have a go at a radio interview and receive feedback from the journalist interviewing them.

The programme for the course can be seen below.

Anyone interested in taking part should contact Andrew McLaughlin on extension 6883.
