Bath’s profile raised in Argentina

The University was invited to formally participate in the 9th Annual Social Meeting of the Fundacion ALFA (the Alumni Foundation of Argentina), which was held in Buenos Aires recently.

ALFA brings together those who graduated from universities outside Argentina and provides an extensive social and business network.

Many of its members hold senior positions in government and in the public and private sectors, and it is an organisation that has much to contribute to the rapidly developing economy of Argentina.

Although the majority of the members are graduates of universities in the USA, there is a small but growing UK contingent.

Professor George Lunt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, recently visited Buenos Aires and had a meeting with Victoria Anda, the Executive Secretary of ALFA.

They discussed how the UK universities might get more engaged with ALFA and Professor Lunt agreed that the University of Bath would formally participate in this year's Annual Meeting.

Bath alumnus Marcelo Lando (MSc Business & Community) is an enthusiastic supporter of ALFA and he kindly agreed to distribute 300 of the latest “Bath Facts & Figures” booklets to the assembled guests.

The President of ALFA, Sr Javier Firpo, gave special thanks to the University for its support of the event.
