Filming for a new BBC drama series takes place on campus today.

Filming for the Bone Kickers series about archaeologists takes place on the Parade and in 2 East today. Students are acting as extras for the outdoor scenes.

The series is set in the Bath area and follows a team of archaeologists as they make a number of discoveries packed with historical mystery but contemporary relevance.

Although based at the fictional Wessex University, the campus scenes will mostly be set at the University of Bath, drawing on many varied locations around campus.

The series has been written by the creators of Life on Mars and is being directed by the team behind the most recent series of Dr Who. It has been scheduled for transmission on BBC One in Spring 2008.

The University press office has been working with colleagues around the campus to help ensure that any disruption to normal activities is kept to a minimum.

However, students and staff may be asked to take small diversions or keep noise levels down at certain locations when filming is taking place.

In total, around six days of filming are scheduled to take place between now and the end of March 2008. Wherever possible, filming will take place at weekends and out of term time to avoid unnecessary disruption.
