Having the opportunity to live with a local household enables students to practise their English conversation

Internal News - 19 March 2007

Local hosts needed to welcome visiting French students

The Division for Lifelong Learning is seeking caring hosts who can welcome an adult student into their family and provide them with bed, breakfast and an evening meal within a safe and clean environment.

The students, aged 20 to 24, come from the Institut des Techniques d’Ingenieur de l’Industrie based in Nantes, and will be undertaking work experience with local employers during their stay in the UK. Having the opportunity to live with a local household enables the students to practise their English conversation skills and take part in British family life.

We now have a particular requirement for hosts in the following areas: Frome, Castle Cary and Wincanton in Somerset; and Malmesbury, Devizes and Chippenham in Wiltshire. Hosts will receive a generous remuneration package and previous hosts have reported finding the experience enjoyable and culturally enriching.

If you think you may be able to host a student between the 2 June and 15 July, or would like more information, please contact Rachel Owens, in the Division for Lifelong Learning, contact details above.
